Step One

There are eight main style variations in the Lane miniature line-up.  Carefully measure (see Measuring Guide) and inspect your box and find it in the Box Variations Chronology section of this site.

Step Two

There were nine different Lid Logos known to be used by Lane.  Find yours in the Box Features section of this site.  Use this information along with your style variation to narrow down the relative age of your box.

Step Three

There are 11 known Bottom Labels known to be used on Lane miniatures.  Find yours in the Box Features section of this site.  Use this information along with your style variation to narrow down the relative age of your box.

Step Four

Don't overlook the importance of Hardware on your box to determine its age.  Pay particular attention to lock-sets (pressed-in or screwed-in) and the size of your escutcheon.  Compare yours to the information found in the Box Variations and Box Features sections.

Step Five

If your box has a print on the top or a small plaque affixed it was made by Lane after the Girl Graduate Plan was discontinued.  These boxes were sold by many different retailers and by many different methods.  Some examples are shown below.  These boxes were made and distributed in the late 1980's through around 2004.
